COMMUNICATIONS COLLECTION
The annual Communications Collection has been designated for this weekend, May 17th and 18th. This campaign allows us to continue the mission of bringing the word of God to a world in desperate need of His saving love. Given the fact that the media in today's society is a powerful influence, we must capitalize on any opportunities available which allow us to share the Good News of the Lord with the world around us. The success of this campaign will enable more collaboration between the Office of Communications and Archdiocesan agencies, and will in turn support our continuing evangelization efforts via the means of modern communications. Please keep in mind that half of this collection is sent to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to support many activities in the field of communications carried on by the national conference. The other half remains in the Archdiocese to support the efforts we are making to communicate the message of the Gospel locally. Please be as generous as your means will allow.

SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND
A special second collection will be taken up next weekend to assist with the Catholic Relief Services emergency response to the people of Myanmar following last weeks' cyclone and flooding. Current estimates of the devastation caused by the storm are 100,000 dead and 1 million homeless. Significant funds are needed to ensure that critical life-saving assistance reaches the most vulnerable people quickly.

MOST HOLY TRINITY
For What Are We Praying?
Father, you sent your Word to bring us truth
and your Spirit to make us holy.
Through them we come to know the mystery of your life,
Help us to worship you, one God in three Persons,
by proclaiming our faith in you.
In this Opening Prayer at Mass we focus once again on the love of God. God sent the eternal Word to bring us, through the Incarnation, the evangelical truth that he is love. The Spirit was sent to make us holy, to bring us to live in the love of God, who is love. Help us, then, to worship in Spirit and Truth, proclaiming and living our faith in the Father who loves us in Christ.

CATHOLIC APPEAL 2008
HANDING ON THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
Stewardship reminds us to count our blessings, acknowledge God's gifts to us and express thanks to Him. We do this by a proportionate giving of our time, talent and treasure. We sincerely thank the households in our parish who as good stewards have made a gift to the Catholic Appeal. You are helping many people with many needs. God calls us to share what we have to help others. Remember, our parish will receive 25 percent of all funds we raise above our goal. Please remember to make your pledge now even if you plan on fulfilling that pledge towards the end of the year. You can pick up information packets with pledge forms in the back of the Church to be mailed in, or for more information please visit www.BostonCatholicAppeal.com or call (617) 779-3700. Every gift matters. Thank you!
